10 Ways to Use a Mug
So lately I have been DREAMING about tea towels! Seriously I had a dream that Jason Momoa wanted to buy a tea towel and I wouldn't let him!
So for a change let's talk mugs! Now your average mug is not as versatile as a tea towel, for example you can't take it with you to the beach... you might break it! You can't use it to dry dishes (but you can dry it with a tea towel! But our humble mugs still has some great and surprising uses:
1. Drink a lovely hot beverage from it... I like coffee, white, 1 sugar or peppermint tea... and chocolate digestives for preference.
2.It makes a great pen pot for all the sharpies that I bought for totally legitimate reasons!
3. It makes a really lovely pot for a little plant! My little cactus pal here is from Yarntistry but if you are using real plants I'd suggest a plastic pot inside the mug so it can drain properly.
4. Ssssshhhhhh! (if you drink wine from your mug nobody will know it's wine!) Also it's super classy I don't care what anyone else says!
5.No speakers for your I-pod or shiny smart phone? Music sounding like a
mosquito stuck in a tin can... no probs... pop it in a mug a voila! It's
an amplifier (look at me I'm techie now!)
6. Make a mug cake, they are yummy... they do tend to be a little dry sometime but I find a bit of ice cream or custard helps and stuffing a spoonful of nutella in the middle makes a really nice sauce... just let it cool a bit first! I like THIS one!
7. Make a cookie in a mug with a microwave! Yep... you heard it here... a cookie! So I tried this out just for you and while what I ended up with was kind of a fudgey/cookie/cakey mess with a dollop of ice cream on top it was delicious! (no pics cos it really did look like death!) Here's the recipe on Spoon University. This one seriously give it a bit of time to cool because the result is molten!
8. Don't want to wash up? Make scrambled egg in a mug and then eat it from the mug! Just whip up your eggs and add a splash of milk, some herbs, salt and pepper if you want them and bung in microwave... I cook it in 30 second bursts then take it out and give it a mix until it's cooked. Yum!
9. Make a meat loaf in a mug... seriously who needs an oven and plates when you have a microwave and a mug! I haven't tried this but the fact that I could do you a whole 3 course meal including soup, main and a desert all in mugs in the microwave is awesome... I can't guarantee it'll taste good but we only own 4 plates and seem to have about 20 mugs!
10. It makes a rather splendid gift, see you can pop a nice bag of sweeties (or a mini wine bottle just sayin'!) and a little gift inside a mug and then it's a lovely surprise when unwrapped. Oh hey... I bet a tea towel would fit nicely inside a mug too!
So yes! Mugs are versatile and useful as well as being pretty! I've learn you can sharpen a knife with the base of one although I can't be trusted with sharp things!
You can get my mug by pledging at Kickstarter and you can add a mug to any pledge but scolling down to the FAQs and checking out how to there :D

Right where's my wine mug... I mean coffee... coffee... I'm not drinking wine honest!

Too Hot? Take Your Towel Out for a Picnic - 50 ways to use a tea towel part 5
It's a hot and stick june afternoon and you've clocked off from work early? What are you gonna do?
Way to use a tea towel number 20: Have a picnic!
Our Kickstarter Rainbow Doodlebirds Tea Towel folds up into a teeny tiny square and can fit in a handbag, perfect as a blanket for a mini picnic!
The Kickstarter is now 219% funded... but I still need to raise funds to finance my studio space (which I have been going crazy waiting to hear about today!) Extra goodies will be added to all rewards once I hit my next target of £2000. This fab cardinal print will be popped into all parcels when the rewards are shipped.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far! Another 20 days of this madness and I'll be able to breathe out and stop driving my friends and family to distraction!
Get your tea towel or doodle birds mug here:

50 Ways To Use a Tea Towel Part 4 - Adventures with your tea towel
I've now been able to add mugs to the rewards and you can add a mug to any reward that already contains a tea towel or felted bird. Unfortunately the smaller paper rewards can't be added to as the postage goes all squiffy!
If you've already backed but want a mug, you can select a different reward by going to "manage your pledge" or you can raise your pledge by £8 if you are in the UK and by £9 if you are in any other country and MESSAGE ME, I don't mean to shout but if you don't message me I won't know why you are giving me extra cash!
So with a blithe sense of wrong doing Mr Felt and I set off for a seaside adventure... with our tea towel! We live by the sea, in Scarborough, UK, so we don't often get to pretend to be tourists!
Mr John Looking Dapper with a Tea Towel Bandana
11. Wear it as a bandana to keep your bonce warm on the open top bus... also protects from sea gull bombs!
12. Use it to keep you coiffure in place while riding said bus!
Keeping my hair from becoming to unruly in the wind!
13. Flap it wildly at the seagulls when they start to fly too close on the open top bus!
After our bus ride we walked the last bit along the beach to the sealife centre. I took my shoes off for a paddle!
14. Use it to dry your toes/remove sand after a paddle. I keep my tea towel in a little plastic bag to prevent sand spreading through all my worldly goods in my handbag.
15. Use it as a tiny beach blanket to prevent you getting sand in your knickers!
16. Build a sand castle and use it as a giant flag!
We then made our way to the sea life centre. We got to see the otters who are usually asleep when we go, which was nice... I totally believed it was an empty pen!
Otter smooch.. mwah!
Smiley Ray says Nom!
17. Use it as a bib when you're eating a giant burger! (don't do this if you used it to dry your feet, sandy burgers not recommended!)
we wanted ice cream but it had started to rain and we didn't fancy soggy cones or there would have been:
18. Use it as a bib/face cloth when you eat a massive ice cream from the Harbor Bar!
Tired from out big day out we stumbled home via the Funicular railway... it was spotting with rain a little so:
19. Fashion it into an impromptu shelter when the typical British weather kicks in!
Thus ends our seaside adventure with our tea towel!

Kickstarter Doodle Birds Now With Added Mugs!
BOOM!!!
Did you hear that!
That's you guys smashing through my first Kickstarter stretch goal!!!
If you don't know what a stretch goal means then let me explain. Basically the project is funded and I achieved what I set out to do... but... the project still has 24 days to go and you can still pledge funds and get rewards. So to keep it interesting and to give me new things to obsess about I can add stretch goals, these are targets that I set which if I meet them you guys get extra stuff!
Stretch Goal 1 was to make if to £1500... we smashed that! The extra funds will enable to add mugs to my product line and I've added them to kickstarter as extra rewards and oh yeah... you can now get mugs as rewards! Head over the Kickstarter page and scroll down to FAQs at the very bottom to find out how to add one to and existing reward.
Stretch Goal 2
£2000 - Studio Goal
SO! I've applied for a studio space (I don't know if I've got it yet so I can't tell you more) if we can raise another £500 to take us over £2000 then the extra funds will pay for the legal fees and setting up costs of the studio, you'll enable me to buy furniture, storage and all the fixings to make my studio shiny and professional looking so I can make even more lovely things for you!
If we smash this goal too all backers who are having rewards posting out will have a mini postcard sized print of the cardinal included in their package. This is a sneaky peek at the project I'm currently working on.

I'll be updating you with more ways to use a tea towel very soon but today I am having a day off (despite the 3 hours of work I've already done... they don't count!)

50 Ways To Use A Tea Towel Part 2: Kickstarter Update
So, quite incredibly, my Kickstarter project is 100% funded in just under 2 days! Wowser... huge huge huge thanks to everyone for their support! Thank you!
So I know you aren't here to listen to me gush about how wonderful you are for supporting me so here's what you came for
50 Ways To Use A Tea Towel Part 2- The Baking Special
5. Use a tea towel under your mixing bowl to stop it sliding everywhere.
6. Wipe your grubby paws on it (unless they are covered in chocolate in which case lick them clean, who wastes chocolate like that!)
7. Hot! Hot! Hot! Don't burn your fingers if you can't find the oven gloves, double up your tea towel and use it to remove hot brownies from the oven!
8. Place a damp tea towel under your chopping board to stop it sliding about (especially if you are using John's over sized chopper!)
9. Having baked your brownies, make your self a nice pot of coffee and wrap the tea towel around it to act as a cozy! (tip do this before you put hot water in or it's virtually impossible to wrap a hot coffee pot in a tea towel!) and then have a brownie with your coffee!
More ways to use a tea towel coming soon.
The Kickstarter Doodle Birds Tea Towel project is still going, visit the page to see how much we've raised so far and to get your own tea towel and exclusive rewards.
