What A Lovely way To Waste a Day!

Today I have mostly be procrastinating... I didn't feel like working so I gave myself permission to have a morning off and spent the last few hours playing with my paper stash!

I'm really pleased with the results and can feel some new ideas forming in my noggin! These paper bow are really fragile as the paper is very old but they are very beautiful... I wish I could find a way to make them less fragile so I could make them into hair slides!

I am thinking of putting them in box frames and making some cards too... I have so many ideas!  I think they woud make beautiful first anniversary gifts!

They're lovely - I have an origami heart in a frame, these would look equally good.

Melanie, how lovely these are! You should really, really make some to sell on Etsy or Folksy... The frame idea sounds good.
If you want to make some more, that are less fragile, but still have a nice crispness to them, like paper, then why not make some "bookcloth" and use this to make bows?
I made a tutorial on my blog, but basically you can use Bondaweb, ironed on the back of your fabric (natural fibre is best), then peel off the backing and use it to attach some paper to stiffen/support the fabric.
For my books, I back the cloth with a very fine paper, almost a tissue; for your hair bows, you would perhaps find that some of that "mulberry tissue" they sell in art shops and posh stationers would be a good backing paper, as it is slightly stiff and crisp.
It would crease well and make the fabric behave like paper. You could also consider using a matching or contrast shade of paper for the fabric,so you got that showing in the areas where the fold shows the reverse of your paper on the bows. Then you should be able to just glue the bows to hair clips. Just a thought...

Have you ever tried acrylic wax? It strengthens the paper quite a lot. It also adds a sheen tho and can make the paper a bit translucent, I quite like the effect but it depends what you want.

They are lovely!
