We passed the 1200 Etsy sales mark and I am feeling "well chuffed" as we say in Yorkshire... in fact I so happy that I thought I might spread it about with a lovely Father's Day giveaway. Big Birdies at The Felt Menagerie

I've been pretty quiet in the blogosphere lately, I've been keeping my head down and working hard and haven't had the energy to blog so I thought we were well over due an update since the last one I posted was in April. The last 2 months have pretty much been about weddings, wedding cake toppers and generally going mental making them (yellow and grey are the current bestsellers!) but I have managed to fit some fun time in for myself as well and made 2 big barn owls.

I made the first one as an experiment and love her sweet little face but I wasn't totally happy with her tail and wings so I set out making another one. The 2nd owl has a much fluffier bum and looks a bit like he is wearing very frilly knickers! They look so cute as a pair!

The owls stand at around 7.5 inches tall and each took more than a week to complete... although I wasn't working on them continuously because this feltmaker has a very short attention span! I had so much fun making big owls I am planning on making a bunch more next on the list is either a snowy owl or a scops... I haven't quite decided!

Also I have been watching lots of nature programs and think I really need to make some more life sized realistic babies to go with the adult birds as the babies grow very fast and are almost the same size as the adults but really really fluffy!

One barn owl is up for sale already in my shop here at etsy and the other shall be up for sale soon.

On another note I am currently languishing at 1197 etsy sales so pretty soon I'll be passing the 1200 mark... and you all know what that means... yes... we'll be having a giveaway! Yay!

Every Colour Tweet Challenge continues...

I have been a busy busy girl since my last post... not just with the making. I have just come back from my annual holidays so I'm now ready to focus and get down to felting!

The Every colour Tweet challenge is well under way, I have now finished the pink and most of the blues... here they all are looking so cute!

So I just have the greens, purples, reds to cover now before I start thinking about if I am going to do all my browns, grays and  neutrals! I'm still umming and aaahing about if I should do the sludgy colours or just all the brights... still I have given myself a whole year to do them so I guess there's lots of time to decide.

All the tweets I have made up already are now for sale at my Etsy shop Here and are looking super cute in their egg boxes too!

The Every Colour Tweet Felt Challenge

I have (perhaps rather foolishly) set my self a challenge to make on of these little guys in every colour fleece that I have.
The idea came about while I was trying to think of a better way to show customers what colours they can choose from for wedding cake toppers and what the cutest way of doing this would be... I didn't just want to direct people to my suppliers sites because I use several different suppliers... and then I realised that no only would be be cute but then I can sell the little bird off once they are finished!

The only problem is I have so much fleece that it's going to take me quite a while to do! But in the meantime I am getting lots of cute photos! I've done my yellows, oranges and blues and shall be moving on to pinks and greens next! I can't wait to see what they all look like together!
I Have put some on little strings to make a window display at The Eatme Space Gallery where I am now working every Friday and Saturday to entice customers in, they make a cute window display don't you think? You can find me in the gallery from 11am till 3pm every fri and sat now... I'll be sitting in there working away and waving to passer-byes!
You can also follow the Gallery on facebook... I'll be looking after the facebook page and posting new exhibitions and news regularly!

Eatme Artspace Invasion

Way way back in November me and a couple of gal pals invaded a local gallery for a couple of weeks with our Birds of a Feather exhibition. Well from the 6th of March I'll be invading their space once more with a flock of birdies.

Also in the space will be hosting a photography competition for the Freddie Gilroy scupture appeal... you can follow the Freddie's freinds here on facebook. The competition is to win a sculpture by artist Ray Lonsdale and to help buy a camera to watch over Freddie Gilroy's sculpture on North Bay... I'll be manning the space from 11-3 during the week and probably a bit longer on saturday.

Also in the space will be the work of local photographer Andi Blake who's work is stunning and of course a small flock of felt birds. After the sculpture moves on I'll be manning the space on a more permanent basis so the flock will remain and lots of other lovely things from local artists and makers too. We intend to be open at least Friday and Saturday every week and then more in the holidays.

I'm really excited about working with Andrea of Andrea Willis design and the guys from Eat Me Cafe to make the artspace a sucess... so if you are in Scarborough pop by and say hi... the space is on Hanover Road just opposite the station.
